Share Experience With the Wider Cohort
At least one annual session sharing personal and enterprise practice, successes, failures and industry judgement.
MP is IAE’s core practice framework for converting professional knowledge into work experience and occupational capability. Business owners and senior practitioners mentor mentees in aligned professional fields.
Courses can teach knowledge, but judgement, communication, responsibility and problem-solving are often built through real work. MP fills that gap through long-term, one-to-one, profession-aligned mentoring.
The historical MP framework is specific about mentors: the emphasis is not fame, but deep practical experience, willingness to share and sustained commitment.
Business owners or senior practitioners with deep experience in their field.
Share real experience, methods, judgement and lessons learned from mistakes.
Historically designed around roughly ten months per year and about two hours of mentoring per month.
At least one annual session sharing personal and enterprise practice, successes, failures and industry judgement.
Historically, each mentor guided up to five students per cohort through a three-year one-to-one plan, around two hours per month.
Mentors and mentees are matched by aligned professional committee and occupation, then complete mutual selection.
The three years are not a fixed classroom syllabus; they progressively build observation, participation, independent handling and reflection around real work.
Each mentee completes an annual summary of practice, learning, problems and next steps, with professional comments from the mentor.
After three years, the mentee submits a final report for mentor assessment. Historically, a satisfactory result indicated practical application skills and capability for the relevant occupation.
Historical mentee feedback emphasised practical help: guidance when problems arise, broader professional relationships, experience sharing, visits and real-world exposure.
“When I encounter problems, my mentor helps me.”
“My mentor looks for opportunities to introduce me to more people.”
“My mentor shares experience and arranges visits and practical exposure.”
The historical MP model already involved employers: executives and senior professionals mentored students from university stage, aligning learning with occupation while building a future talent pipeline for employers.
MP has never been only a private conversation. Historical materials connect it with talks, forums, company visits, member exchange, cultural/sporting activities and wider professional community.

You may participate as a mentor, mentee or employer. Eligibility, matching and fees are subject to the relevant professional committee and current programme.
