Professional Seminar
New policy, regulation, technology, standards, methods and industry trends.
CPD is the system for maintaining professional capability after qualification: keeping up with policy, regulation, technology and practice, solving work problems, building professional relationships and keeping a traceable development record.
One hour of qualifying CPD activity equals one CPD credit. Under the current 2026 individual membership form, M, S and F complete 40 CPD credits annually; A may participate in applicable member activities but the current form does not state a 40-credit requirement for A.
Not every social event automatically counts as CPD. A CPD activity should have a clear professional-development purpose, content, duration and evidence.
New policy, regulation, technology, standards, methods and industry trends.
Structured discussion of real work problems, failures and solutions.
Practical exercises, tools, templates and group work that build usable capability.
Research committees, working papers, industry surveys, case studies and professional reports.
Observe operations, occupations, technology and management with explicit learning objectives.
Experience sharing, peer discussion and problem solving around a professional issue.
Senior members / industry mentors share work experience, judgement and industry practice.
Cross-disciplinary or major professional events with agenda, duration and learning content recorded.
Historical IAE member-convener documents formed a complete event workflow. The modern site reorganises it into before, during and after stages so members can plan and archive professional activities consistently.
Historical MQP and member materials show a wide range of activity formats. Those formats can inspire modern programming, but current CPD recognition should depend on professional-development objectives and evidence.
